Abstract
This study investigates the impact of improving mechanic competence on reducing loose tyre incidents within Unit SST74 at PT XYZ. Loose tyre incidents pose significant safety risks and operational challenges, making it imperative to enhance the skills and knowledge of mechanics involved. The research employs a competence-based curriculum to systematically address and elevate the proficiency of mechanics. The research aims to measure the effectiveness of the competence-based curriculum in enhancing mechanic skills and its subsequent influence on reducing loose tyre incidents. Through pre- and post-training assessments, the study evaluates the competency levels of mechanics before and after the intervention. Incident data, including frequency and severity, will be analyzed to assess the tangible impact of improved competence on operational safety. This research was conducted by providing training with the blended
learning method with training modules. The results showed that after mechanics received training the incidence of loose tire incidents decreased from 12 incidents in the previous year to 2 incidents or a decrease of 83.34%.
